How Mark-ups Calculate

Here you will learn how mark-ups are calculated.

Step-by-Step Guide

When you are doing a mark-up from cost using a percentage it uses the following formula:

(Cost * %) + Cost

For example, if you had a base cost of $10, and did a 300% mark-up, (10 * 3.00) + 10= $40

The mark-ups are done this way so you can do portion mark-ups like 25% or 35%.

Another example would be $100 with a 25% mark-up. (100 * 0.25) + 100 = $125

the asterisk (AKA) "x" times is used in this example 10 x 3 = 30 + 10 = 40
