Build a Landing Page for eMarketing
What is a Landing Page
Landing pages are standalone web pages, usually created specifically for the purposes of a marketing or advertising campaign.
Why are Landing Pages Useful
Typically used in eMarketing campaigns, landing pages are designed with a single objective in mind, known as a Call to Action or CTA and are often used to gather leads, engage users for a specific promotion, explaining specifics of a more complex topic or product details. Ultimately the goal is to drive users to carry through on the call to action.
How to Build a Landing Page in AutoPrint Software
Once you are logged into the admin side of your site, in the left menu navigate to STOREFRONT CMS > CMS FEATURES and click on the Website Pages link.
This section provides you the ability to edit existing pages and templates in your site as well as add and manage new pages like a landing page. You’ll notice at the top of the page you can configure navigation menus, upload images to your media library, and filter the CMS pages to display only Core Templates, Built-in Pages, or Add-on Pages as well as display all the editable CMS pages. Click the Add-on Pages filter button to display only Add-on Pages (yours may be empty if this is your first time to add pages).
Now select the Insert CMS Page button to configure a new page for your website.
True landing pages, that only have a single CTA presented to the user typically do not display a website’s normal navigation so begin by jumping down the page to the set of page toggles that begin with the Hide Header.
For your landing page, you will want to check the Hide Header, Hide Left Navigation, and Hide Footer options. This will suppress navigational distractions from being presented to your page visitor.
Often, those visiting your landing page will arrive there from a link in an eMarketing campaign (e.g. pay-per-click, or email campaign), however in some instances you may want to also utilize the landing page in a printed advertisement so AutoPrint Software enables you to customize the URL or web address for your landing page using two fields: Library and Template/Page.
A web address is typically built from your main domain (e.g. randomprintshop.com) , followed by sections, and ending with the actual web page. Landing page web addresses are usually as simple as possible if they are intended to be promoted in print as well as online. So you may want to use the ADD NEW option and add a library like offers and then build your pages with that library selected for an offer based landing page. Then you could create promotion paths like store.randomprintshop.com/offers/graduate-yard-signs.html, store.randomprintshop.com/offers/custom-printed-face-masks.html, etc.
BONUS: Sometimes you will see web addresses like randomprintshop.com/spring-sale and this is possible with AutoPrint Software. Simply add a Library labeled spring-sale and then specify the Template/Page as index - the page would be available without having to type or promote the index.html portion.
Now, following best practices for landing page construction, build the remaining portions of your landing page using the fields provided. For help with each field, you can visit the Create/Edit Website Pages how to article.
You want to ensure you have a clear call to action link, button, or linked image in the body of your page.
BONUS: To create a basic button, it is possible in the HTML to enable source code editing by clicking the <> button in the toolbar and then add code like the following to your page:
<input type="button" onclick="location.href='/store/product-view.html/45-Greeting-Cards';" value="Get Greeting Cards Now!" />
Replace the portions /store/product-view.html/45-Greeting-Cards and Get Greeting Cards Now! with your own link and text.
This will produce a basic button that can be styled using CSS as desired.
Lastly, you want to press either the SAVE & RETURN TO PREVIOUS PAGE or SAVE & STAY ON PAGE to save your work. You can view the page using the VIEW PAGE button and edit to make tweaks to get the look just as you would like before using it in a promotion.
To find and edit your page once you have navigated away from it, return to STOREFRONT CMS > CMS FEATURES > WEBSITE PAGES menu link, if desired click the ADD-ON PAGES button to filter the pages and see just add on pages, then click the EDIT button beside your created page.
That’s it!
