Step-by-Step Guide
Log into your hub admin at admin.yourwebsite.com
In the left menu click Catalog.
Locate the product category for which you would like to manage the default product design templates and click the VIEW PRODUCTS button.
Locate the specific product in the category and click its MANAGE THIS PRODUCT button.
Scroll down and locate in the Product Details section the Design Template toggle controls.
If the Design Template Available toggle is not enabled, checking the box and saving the product will make the design template available on the storefront’s product page in a tab labeled Templates.
If you have created your own master design template (Allowed File Types: .ai, .eps, .psd, .pdf, .jpeg or .tiff) and exported it to PDF, to upload your own custom as the template for customers to download when clicking the Download Template button on the product’s page, click the Choose File button in the Design Template Override settings row, select your custom PDF file, click the Upload button, then be sure to save the product changes.
Once uploaded, the product will now show a remove button for the custom template which will be labeled as remove and the filename of the template (usually named using the product’s id and ending with a .pdf extension). Press the red Remove ####.pdf button to remove your custom design template and fallback to the default design template PDF.

Design templates can be a deeply personal preference for each printer. So, while we recommend retaining the default design templates on your storefront, it would be best to download the default template and use it as a guide for creating your own.If you choose to create your own, or if you need to create your own for a new product you add to your catalog for which there is no template, here’s some general ideas for how to design your own PDF templates (or .ai if you prefer). Create a new document in Adobe Illustrator (or In Design, or whatever) that is approximately 1/8” (.125) wider and taller than the final product would be trimmed. Select the default layer and rename it something like “Your Design Goes Here” Add a layer labeled something like “Trim Edge”. Select the Trim Edge layer and add a transparent rectangle with a distinct line color that is 1/8” shorter and narrower than the document (this should equal the final trim size of your product).
Add a layer labeled something like “Safe Edge”. Select the Safe Edge layer and add a transparent rectangle with a distinct line color that is very different than your Trim Edge color. Size the rectangle to be 1/8” narrower and shorter than the Trim Edge.
If you desire, you can include additional instructions on a layer named something like “Instructions”. Select all the layers and change the text to outlines. . |
