Hub-to-Storefront Settings Inheritance (Hub Only)

Overview

This article explains how settings configured at the Hub level are inherited by child storefronts, and which settings storefronts can override independently.

How Settings Inheritance Works

The Hub serves as the authoritative configuration source for its child storefronts. When a Hub operator sets certain configurations, those settings propagate to child storefronts automatically or when pushed. Storefronts can then override certain settings locally without affecting the Hub or other storefronts.

Settings Inherited from the Hub

The following settings originate at the Hub and flow to child storefronts:

Catalog and Pricing

  • Product catalog structure (categories, products, option sets)

  • Base pricing tiers and markup recommendations

  • Shipping box sizes

Operational Settings

  • Default turnaround times and cut-off schedules

  • Production settings and workflow configuration

  • Trade Network vendor assignments

Structural Settings

  • Category groups and rankings

  • Custom size definitions

Settings Storefronts Configure Independently

Each storefront can configure the following independently of the Hub:

Branding and Appearance

  • Logo, store name, and company information

  • Theme settings (colors, fonts, layout)

  • CMS pages and homepage content

Commerce Settings

  • Payment gateway credentials and configuration

  • Shipping provider credentials and zones

  • Tax settings and regional overrides

Contact Management

  • Their own customer contacts, organizations, and portals

  • Sales rep assignments and team structure

  • Pricing overrides at the contact level

Overriding Hub Settings at the Storefront Level

When a storefront needs to deviate from the Hub's base configuration:

  1. Access the storefront's admin panel.

  2. Navigate to the relevant settings section.

  3. Make the necessary changes and save.

These overrides apply to that storefront only. They remain in effect until the Hub pushes an update that affects the same field.

Notes / Tips

  • Hub Only: Settings inheritance is a one-way flow — from Hub down to storefronts. Storefronts cannot push settings back up to the Hub.

  • When a Hub pushes catalog prices to a storefront, any existing storefront-level price overrides for the same product may be overwritten. Test in a non-critical storefront first when making broad pricing changes.

  • Contact-level pricing overrides at the storefront level are never affected by Hub catalog pushes — they are independent.
