Terms-Based Purchasing — Customer Guide

Terms-Based Purchasing — Customer Guide

Applies To: [ All Licenses ]

Overview

This article explains terms-based purchasing from the customer's perspective — what it means to have terms on your account and how to use terms as a payment method at checkout.

What Are Terms?

Terms-based purchasing allows approved customers to place orders and pay at a later date, rather than paying at the time of checkout. Common arrangements include Net 15, Net 30, or other billing cycles agreed upon with the store.

Checking Out with Terms

If your account has been approved for terms by the store administrator, a terms payment option will appear at checkout:

  1. Add items to your cart and proceed to checkout.

  2. On the payment step, select Terms or Net [X] from the available payment methods.

  3. Review your order and click Place Order.

  4. Your order will be placed and invoiced according to your terms arrangement.

Viewing and Managing Invoices

If the store has invoicing enabled:

  1. Log in to your account and go to My Account > Order History.

  2. Open the relevant order.

  3. Invoices and payment status may be visible from the order detail page.

For questions about your balance or invoices, contact the store administrator directly.

Notes / Tips

  • Terms are extended to customers at the store administrator's discretion. If you do not see a terms payment option at checkout and believe you should, contact the store.

  • Placing an order on terms does not reduce the amount due — it defers when payment is collected.

  • Administrators configure and manage terms from the admin panel. See How Can I Extend Terms to Customers? and Adding Organization Payment Terms and Credit Limit.
